Holy shit. Im so stupid. Okay once you get it, it is so much easier than it seems, wow.

So, I bought an adapter for an old mouse I had, in order to use it with my laptop (USB-C my bane). And I mapped the spacebar to one of my side buttons.

• Swing mouse, in the MIDDLE of the swing *tap* jump and press W, hold W until you hit the ground.
• The key for me was not pressing space too early because I tended to press it the second I swung my mouse, and then if youre slow like me it's easier to get the timing right if you do a bigger swing. NE ways, very fun.

Now, onto the good stuff - Caesar. I decided to suck up to him and did the "Courier! Go into House's probably deathly bunker and be our test subject!" shit. At the time, I was too low level to free Benny and fend off the incultalings, so I mournfully killed him. This time, however, I brought Arcade and my gauss and picked off the ones in Cottonwood Cove from the sniper nest. I used Arcade as distraction in the fort (sorry man) and hopped up on psycho, jet, and steady and yay! They're gone! Of course, they sometimes respawn so its not completely clear, but it felt good.

I also got this funky glitch where the gauss projectile just sticks there midair... it even kept playing its sound effect.

Okay, so I love FNV's glitches and speedrun strats. My favorites are reload dashing to just move around normally (I have a vendetta against fast traveling unless I'm really lazy), and the occasional infinite dash if I can remember to qsql fast enough.

And now we get to stop-hopping. I'll call it shopping. I am beginning to believe this is not an actual thing that is in the game. I know its difficult to chain together and get the hang of, but I spent around 8 actual hours (across a few days) purely practicing shopping and watched around 4 tutorials multiple times.

Ya'll, I do not get it.

• Swing mouse, jump and press w, release w when on ground, repeat, nothing.
• Swing mouse, jump, press w, release w immediately, nothing.
• Press w, jump normally, swing mouse, jump and press w, release w before on ground, nothing.

I can "bhop" in NV fine (but ofc thats not any faster than just walking) and I know you're supposed to use the extra little boost you get when you land to propel yourself but wow it does not work. I can tell it isn't working because I have the speedometer from LiveSplit to show me that I just stay at walking speed the entire time (unless I get the tiny speed boost ofc) when the tutorial shows the speed for shopping at around 75. I don't know if it matters that I play with a virtual machine (haha mac user!!) and use a trackpad, but im gonna order a mouse and see if that helps at all. Any and all tips are appreciated...

This is making me crazy, I can't do anything else until I shop at least ONCE!! PLEASEEEEEE! I want to draw!!

This is just a bunch of paraphrased rants I went on, on Discord. I don't think I should keep burdening my non-fallout indulgent friends with this sooooo, I'm moving them here!

2025/01/01 - Fallout 5 being described as similar to the TV show makes me very scared. The whole "schtick" as Todd says, is that the wasteland is really really definitely a wasteland. What made FNV so interesting is that the NCR was trying to have a working government, (they kinda suck at that but eh) and that the Strip is this little sanctuary of air conditioning and running water and an actual electrical grid in the middle of a giant wrecked desert. People are still living and actively trying to rebuild society. Why has it taken 280 years? Idfk. But theyre trying!!
If the next Fallout game just throws all that shit away I think it would get a lot of backlash, it feels like all the Bethesda Fallouts really *need* to be a wasteland, like the bombs dropped yesterday or some shit. God it has been a LONG time since then, guys.

^^ Current me here, I also think Fallout 76 enforces this idea, since like they just went allll the way back in time for that game.

2024/12/30 - It makes me so mad whenever I'm reminded that somehow this [FNV] is considered the "best" Fallout game, but it still had so much more great potential that was lost because Bethesda fucking sucks and gave them 18 months of development time. 2024/12/29 - God yknow what I also hate about Reddit Fallout fans besides the general cesspool and, "How are you this bigoted and weird when you love the Fallout games" shit, like they ALL hate Benny. Most of them absolutely despise Benny and will jump you if you show an ounce of sympathy for him. Its so fucking annoying because Benny literally had a good story and "mini" redemption arc, and also everyone likes the independent Vegas ending which is what BENNY was working towards and left you in his will.
"He shot you in the head. twice" .. you know why, right? To get the chip? The chip to take the strip from House the resident capitalist overlord and to create independent Vegas? The chip that you go hunt Benny down for because House orders you to, only to do exactly what Benny was planning on doing in the first place, that chip? ffs I hate to say it once again, average reddit Fallout fan media literacy. If you don't straight up kill Benny at the tops, he escapes and gets captured. Now Caesar, yknow the guy with the sex slaves and also general slaves and also an army of slaves and also a few child slaves, yeah he orders you to use the chip he got from Benny to go check out House's vault for him or he will kill you. And then makes you kill Benny. Who is kneeling and tied up and at this point just begs for you to do it quickly. You can even fucking crucify him and watch him rot on a cross where he just whimpers the whole time. "He got what he deserved" hey. Hey, he is a human ("actually its just a video game!" ☝️ 🤓 ) SHUT THE FUCK UP SHUT UP. FUCK. The last shit he says to you is how you can make the Strip a better place for everyone, he tells you to go get yes man and he has completely accepted his death. Like bro. Come ON. I know his methods for trying to get an independent Vegas were not all that great or ethical, but if you hate Benny and then do the Yes Man ending, you're doing what Benny would have wanted. ...stratching my head.

For contrast I can't scroll two posts on Tumblr without seeing untagged Benny softcore porn (Its getting kinda *annoying* guys... heh.. really "annoying".........)
